"I
really believe that goals are set and once achieved the celebration
must be something done internally regardless others’ approval. But today
is different, today I’m overflowing with happiness!
As known and repeatedly said back home “Missão dada é missão cumprida” Portuguese for “Mission given mission accomplished”. However, this part of my life is much wider and significant than just a completi

on
of a task, this is the end of project drawn three years ago based on a
dream of studying overseas, dreamed by a dreamer that was not even able
to speak the language properly at that time let alone resources to
afford to it. Going against the odds , divergent opinions for leaving my
country for the second time, changing my ‘stable’, ‘safe’ and employed
life for something uncertain I decided to take all risks and on the 1st
of August 2010 I embarked on this challenge.
Going through a lot of unpleasant and/or painful happenings and experiences such as people looking down on me, paying up to NZ$215 a week for rent, the end of a relationship, tempting job offer to return, tiring and exhausting weeks with sometimes more than 85 hours worked in one, two and - in some cases - three jobs, countless nights awake having the company of cans of energy drink to finish assignments and keep me on the track and a lot of other things too... Well, I survived!
And two years later here I am to say that a dream is realized! The As, Bs and Cs I got are now mere details. Nothing will change what I’m feeling, a mix of relief, accomplishment and fulfillment!
I can thank a lot of people among friends, relatives and acquaintances for their support and words for incentive and encouragement for the completion of it but no one compares to what my mother Sandra Regina has done. This victory is as hers as mine.
At last, by publishing this message I hope I am not only exposing my current frame of mind but really encouraging you who have a goal to keep moving forward and don’t give up on the first sign of failure because when you look back it will eventually show you how strong you are and you didn’t even know it...and believe me, it is a priceless feeling!
A BIG AND SINCERE THANK YOU!
